Hello all!

So, it’s been a while since my last update and I do apologize, but I am going to do a better job now because I seem to have all the time in the world over here. I did make it to Slovakia safe and sound and am doing quite well. I have been here a week now to the day and I’ve been enjoying myself pretty well. There are some small differences between our culture and the one here, but it’s been a decent learning experience and am looking forward to learning more and more.

The most difficult thing for me right now is the communication barrier. I know like ZERO Slovak, but my teammates do speak English pretty well. You can tell that they are self-conscious about some words, but they do well. I am hoping to learn much more Slovak than I know right now over the next few months so it’s not so difficult to get around. Going to the store is an adventure because I don’t know what any of the labels are saying. So far, I have just tried to get things with see through packaging so I know exaclty what I am getting. I have actually enjoyed the food. We have lunch every day together and I have had some pretty decent meals.

On the basketball side of things, we had a tournament in our city this weekend where we went 3-0 so we are off to a decent start. We have another tournament this coming weekend in Hungary before we start the league in Slovakia and Euro-league. I have enjoyed my teammates – they are good people and fun to be around.

Not much else going on right now. Disappointed my Cubbies couldn’t pull it off and bummed about the Boilers losing to Ohio State. So, here’s a successful for the Colts and the Yankees!!!!
